A Total Eye-opener....

Guess what, today I'm going to some locations again to cover a story! Huhu...That means not staying at the office for too long... ;p At 9 am,we went to Kuala Sepetang, Taiping, Perak n we were to capture some pictures of the fishing village there...We got to also rode on some boats...It was awesome! So unconventional n so thrilling! Tp getar2 jgk nk nek dlm bot nelayan tu....goyang2 bot tu...huhu~

The Crew

Then , we had a drink at the nearby stall...So we sat with the press crews, the Ketua Kampung n an officer...huhu...a TOTALLY new experience 4 me.. feeling all grown-up n so journalistic! At one time, there was a little squabbling btwn the stall owner n the officer...abt sum political stuff..it was hot...like watching a reality show when the contestants r bickering n telling it like it is.Ooh,it was so thrilling to watch that..hehe...i actually loved that... ;p

Hah...what a nice day...I got to go back at the office at abt 3 n then, I only had 2 hours more b4 going back home... ;) the end.

5th n 6th Day....

5th day
- Interesting. Y?
- Got to follow the reporter, Kak Su n the cameraman, Mr J. Went to interview an Exco at Pejabat SUK...But the interview was cancelled, due to sum miscommunication...The Exco suggested the interview 2b conducted at 8.30 pm dat nite...huhu~ sian ktrg ni pnat2 dtg..
-Kak Su : "cmnila sarah, keje cmni x tentu mase..." hehe~
- We were to go to Simpang Pulai then...another interview will start at 3.30 pm...arrived at 3, lepak at a gerai, Kak Su ordered a drink...waited...
- Kak Su : "One more thing, keje cmni kne waiting.....je"
- Tell me abt it, KakSu...but that's what I lurve abt journalism...being a reporter, always on the go, crk story..huhu~ bergegas sna sni...hey, it's fun, rather than being in the office all day... ;) sori, but i ni xske sgt memerap 1 tmpt lelame...
- Pon x jd interview ngn Exco Sg. Pulai nih...xpe2...sabau jela...Mr J yg muke grg tu, ntah cmne la dlm ati die, mst da meluap2 tu...da la pns ptg tu...gile pns...
- K, so we went back to the company's car...
- They had a plan,utk interview Exco SUK td, kn mlm? So, they decided utk snap2 gmbr kwsn Exco tu awl2...so mlm ni juz interview je...Smart! I like proactive, efficient ppl.. ;) Or maybe frm their work experience...LOL
- Went to the Exco's kwsn...a Chinese residence...squatter houses...there was this building with political flags outside... not 4getting 2 guard dogs...nsb bek dorg x gigit, kalo x, naye... ;p
- Went inside the small building (cm besa je aku ckp building), Kak Su interviewed (informally) this Chinese boy here...I think he was with the other Chinese men who r in charge of taking care of the building..
- Mr J shot some pictures of the location...Wow! Really felt like TV already... ;p (ok, jakun...ahaks!)
- Went back to office...

Oh yeah, n 1 more sweet thing abt the 5th day is, I got a praise frm my sub editor, Mrs. Mazni, that 1 of my article I wrote the other day was good...above average, she said..God, I was so thrilled to hear that, after a rough, bad day the day b4...hmm~ really made my day~ ;) She asked if I'd like to work in the journalism field...I said yes, but in my heart, I know that I reallyx100 need to improve on my formal writing styles..besides, news is not novel...news is more factual...must know more facts rather than intuition... ;) Man, I also was flattered when she asked if I actually did work as a writer b4... ;-o hoh! Oh well, at least she had motivated me...


6th Day...
- Today, no new assg..no need to go anywhere...So I juz sat in front of my PC, at my desk, doing sum work...work? Yeah rite...I also opened friendster, tagged, myspace, youtube n sum on9 games! LOL.
- But, I think I've already able to fit in...Not so much to the extent of making jokes with my colleagues, tho'...But at least I'm not shy with them, anymore... ;)
- yep, I'm beginning to enjoy working here...Mood swings were what made me so moody+pissed off+cranky the other day, LOL...

4th Day.....

Yup, went thru my 4th day of internship. No practice whatsoever today, so I practically sat in front of the PC doing my work yg tertunda (4got what tertunda in English is)

Ok, did sum editing on yesterday's article of mine. Some facts were incorrect. Kak Su helped me by giving out the real facts. New things I learned about report writing today :

* In e-mails, don't write ur story in a chunk of paragraph. Not even 2 sentences join together.Instead, after 1 sentence, 'enter' the next sentence so that editors can easily read ur report (heh! common sense, actually ;p)
*No need to use someone's title (Mr/Mrs/Puan) after we hv introduced them in the intro.
*No need to use 'etc' @ 'dan lain2'..be straight
* Don't write smtg if we're not sure abt it...

Mostly common sense,so I've got to be careful not to make mistakes again...Yeah, I didn't mind being told for my mistakes, bcoz I know I'm new, I'm green, I wouldn't mind being scolded, even..I'm juz bored here.....hours n hours of doing nothing but work...n the weather got hotter at 3...tho' the air-cond's on...the secretary's absent today. Oh, I envy her. Hmm, really wish I cud go back...What a negative attitude,rite?

Well, unlike sum ppl...plastic ppl....

The Juiciest Bit - Blogging About Work (2)

Now...A totally new day for me this morning... ;) *i got my first reporting task! Woohoo!*

K, it was a very impromptu thingy..Kak Su was the first to arrive at office, I cheerily wished 'good morning' to her *glad she's here today!*...opened my PC, was abt to start work...

Then, Amz arrived (the young cameraman) n Kak Su called me, "Jom, Sarah...Cik Mazni suruh ikut..." I was thrilled! First,cuz I cud get away from yesterday's boredom for some time! And...I knew I was going on a field trip to cover A S.T.O.R.Y!!!! Double woohoo!! ;-D

Yes, I was right...I asked Amz where we were going. We were going to Kledang to cover a story abt a successful businesswoman who opens a store that sells road furniture items. Unique! I just sat in the company's car with Kak Su and Amz was driving...Then, we arrived. And...Kak Su told me that I was going to interview her! Arghhh! 4 real? I was soooo excited... ;p But nervous as well...She told me what to do, gave sum tips whatsoever and we were ready..

The businesswoman mentioned is Pn Noraini Ishak, a female entrepreneur who had installed the 1st ever road furniture company n now, a store for those items...in Malaysia!1st ever! How cool is dat? This is an iron lady we're talking abt...when we went to her office, yeah, it was quite nice, her office..she was clad in a very manager-like attire, cheetah blouse, a trench coat n a sleek tudung...stylo.. ;p very well-put, her attire...

So, interview session, I...boleh la...I juz asked sum ques, even tho' it sounded awkward...I learned from my experience during mock interviews done in college, I really2 am not a good interviewer, not that I am not inquisitive enuf...but only certain things, I really could not care less...Urgh! What a horrible habit to be a reporter..Lol, I know...But I'm too lazy...K, I know I really2 need to buck up...But so far during the interview, I even managed to accidentally cracked sum jokes (umm, like to think it that way, cuz I jus made evry1 laugh ;))What's important, Kak Su said I was ok! ;)

Of course, as a newbie interviewer, I didn't manage to ask much...I juz don't know what else to ask! Some of the ques r already known..So I juz let Kak Su to ask ques..I knew she nudges me to ask more...but really,ppl..I don't hv anything else...so, practically then, I juz chirped in here n there...then came sum real ques that I really wanted to know when I did that... ;)

Also, my phone rang during the interview...*Argghh! Shoot! How on earth can i forgot to silent it? Dang!* K, but I juz said "sorry" n quickly silented that thing off.. :P

Then, we went down to take a look at Pn Noraini's factory...A very new experience to me and the rest of the crew too...We could actually see in front of our eyes how standard-sized road signs r made...I began to think that when I work in a factory, this is the insight...I watched them work, asked questions again to Pn Noraini (n this time I was neutral, no more nervousness..cud approach he.. ;)) haha...

turned out they not only make road signs and such, but the cutting machine in the factory cud also produce keychains...n Pn Noraini called on the expert keychain-maker of the factory to demonstrate making a keychain...he made us a 'SELAMAT DATANG' signboard..Aww~How sweet..~ ;p I thanked the pakcik... N it was a wrap!

Back in office, I had to write my first newspaper article... ;)

The Juiciest Bit - Blogging About Work (1)

Okay, now I'm comfortably seated in front of my lappy, ready to pour my thoughts on what's going on in my life for the past few days...

Hmm, yesterday was my 2nd day of internship. It.Was.A.Real.Bore. Huhu, honestly speaking...I really whined abt how boring my day was since I got home. Well, how boring can it be, u ask? Hmm, one of the friendly staff, Kak Su wasn't there. She was once a part-time reporter with an established local daily newspaper...1st time I knew that fact frm her, I was like, 'Woah...' then there was the young cameraman, a good buddy...very friendly n casual...He arrived late! Oh. Cuz he got to shoot a story, what did I expect? Hehe...

Hmm, there were juz two male staffs, one an Indian man abt 40-smtg of age and one, a big-sized dude, abt 25++. They didn't even tegur me. They juz did sum wrk, sumtimes they chatted and shouted loudly with each other but not speak a word to me.One time, the three guyz (which include the cameraman) were checking out a footage on sum...I dunno, political stuff? Or maybe pure controversial stuffs cuz I heard some loud verbal arguments from the footage. Also, I heard frm my office staffs' conversation, that they were discussing smtg abt a YB, ADUN or smtg like dat...Then they laughed...N they watched the video footage with pure interest...I couldn't see it, let alone take a peek at it, cuz the camera recording wasn't facing me one way or another.

So I juz sat there quietly doing my work (which I don't really think could make me concentrate with all that noise) n pretend to not care a thing abt the world. N this went on for hours. Me sitting there meekly as if I'm deaf or sumthing. Ppl wud see me n say, "She's a quiet, dilligent girl...bla3..." I wanted to, like, chirp in or smtg, I really do, but,u don't expect a newbie to pandai2 huha2 sana sini x tentu psl, kn? Gosh, I badly wanted to know what in the world they were watching...juz for the sake of adding sum knowledge,rite? Like, hey, I'm working in a journalism+multimedia-based company..I should know what's going on around me...Though still an intern, I believe I should be proactive, initiative...I don't juz wanna sit there waiting 4 info to come to me..in fact, journalists don't do that..they run, they stumble, they pull their hair out for information n data...they're always on the go...

Oh, but well...the clock eventually striked 5 o'clock. I cud go home. Woohoo. N I had a new assignment-another translating work from Malay to English..Yay~ ;) I liked it, but God, I was freakin' tired n sleepy when I got home.K, I didn't juz sleep.I slept after I had a bath n Maghrib prayer. God, sleeping wuz gooooodd...Then I woke up at 8 pm to try to complete the translation job...

Argghhh~ Turned out I couldn't cuz was too damn sleepy...ZZZZZZ...

Hujan dan Keje

Ohh...today it's raining again from morning till now (3 pm)...cool~ i'm even putting on my sweater..hehe...padahal my fam members yg len lek je.....huhu~ saje nk amek feel konon2 winter la tu kn...cm kt negara omputih la kununnye kn...hehe~

well, actually i juz wanna avoid myself frm getting a fever...yela, sistem immunity aku ni lomah sebona'eh..aku ade resdung...n byk kali aku dmm...xcukp ngn dmm, skali ngn selsema , btuk n skt tekak 1 pakej...tu bese la tu...kt uitm tu, mentang2 Pusat Kesihatan a.k.a PK (name glamor) die bg free of charge nye service (kjaan tanggung la kn)...so aku dgn sng ati kua msuk PK ikut suke ati akak tiri belah mak aku...

Huhu...cmbest plak jd org skt ye? yela sgt...tp terlantar...mulut rase ubt, tkk pahit, x selerea mkn nasik.. emm...tp yg bestnye dpt la rehat2 jekn...MC ke...huhu~ ;p

Hmm, ape nk conteng arini ek? Ummm...perkembangan terbaru...oh yezz! smlm da stat keje..da bg la 'the dreaded assignment' yg amek ms berbulan nk siapkn tu...huhu~ seb bek bos kate ok..."hmm, u did well...but..." aha! of course ade but...what do u expect? ur a newbie...of course u make mistake...hmm, tp xde papela sgt komen die..huuhu~

da bg assg tu, die bg assg bru lak...aku pon duduk la kt tmpt newbie aku tu n wat keje...kne tulih surat rasmi..oh...reti ke aku bwat...hmm, tp stlh bertungkus lumus slame bbrp jam, maka siapla surat itu...n bos berpuas ati..tp aku xpuas ati sbb lembap beno aku wat keje...argh! 1 st impression counts! i failed! oh well, xpe2...byk lg yg nk kne di-go thru arini...

cdg nk knal ngn staf2 opis yg len, tp suasana senyap je...dorg sembg sesame sdri je...tp x lame lps tu, sume org pn rase awkward (atau cuma aku?) n dorg memulekan perknln...seb bek ade sorg adk kecik dtg opis arini.. ;) byk ckp lak tu..comel je tgk kerenah die...die dtg ngn mak die...mak die yg plg friendly ngn aku...huuhu~ sembg2... soalan2 biase... "so kt u amek kos ape?" "sblm ni watpe?" ...

then, break kul 1 smpi 2 ptg...kua mkn ngn ibu...kne bergegas...g mkn jauh sket dr tmpt keje...emm...then blk opis,...3 more hours to go...wuhu~ seb bek ade lg 1 assg...terisi jgk mase aku...huhu~ then tenet tetibe makin slow...argh~ tensen...tp dpt gak siap keje...

akhirnye da kul 4.55...staf len nk trn da...ade uncle yg da blk kul 4.30 pn...makin krg org kt opis..oh well, aku nk blk! busan kt cni lame2...

emm, ayah dtg...die suh aku drive dr tmpt keje ke umh...ahh~ su-weet! ;) i'm to be an adult later... (poyo x?)

10 Toes Outside....

"When u r still learning here, all the 10 toes on ur feet will also stay here...but after the end of each semester, slowly one by one toe will be out...into the real world, indicating that u r also, slowly, ready to venture into the world of the working environment...applying whatsoever that u hv learned here..."


Those are the words of my former Head of Programme,fondly known as "Dr D" (well, i sorta rearranged her exact words la kn~ ;p) which were always reminded to us from time to time... the 'toe' analogy is used to symbolize our readiness to step into a world of unexpectedness and a lot of responsibilities...

Which brings us to our topic today, 'Hey, I visited my office-to-be today!'..hehe` ;p

So i met with the GM of the company...it's a kinda multimedia-interactive-based company, which deals with most multimedia thingy n broadcasting too..(among my favourite stuff! ;p) ~Hello, I'm Sarah, reporting from Putrajaya...haha~

Mr GM was very warm, n shall i say, cool, in the now...not so like those suit-wearing strict bosses who never heard of the word 'smile'...hehe~(he's also quite good-looking 4 a man his age ;p) the workplace ambience also was very friendly, cosy and such.. i was actually beginning to visualize me running here n there in the office, discussing probs with my colleagues, holding files, walking very fast-paced-ly..loookin' very busy...hehe~ (i dunno, but I've always fantasized that kind of working environ.. ;p i like it, actually..i was also a fan of 'The Apprentice'..hey2..~

I cud say that, our brief meeting today was quite...friendly, n info-gaining 4 me...but I felt I kinda hesitated n talked very softly in front of him (mule2 tu)...but then, all of a sudden, I was talking non-stop! hahaha~

But then, I reassured myself that, 'hey, all newbies will hv butterflies flying around happily in their 'comel' tummies, so y bother? juz give the company ur best shot n show 'em what u got with the assignment they gave u today'..

Hey2, I even got my 1st project 4 my industrial training.. (erm, 'industrial training' is too long, i'll juz refer it as IL or internship 4 my later posts, ok? ;) or prac, hmm, i still luv the word 'prac'.....n it's due on the 1st official day of my internship, which is on Jan 2.. that will be abt more than a month to come, but...I can't wait to start! ;)

My Journey tO Adulthood..~

hmmm.. it's been 5 days in my home... (feels like a long time!) well, i'm having so much fun at home..it's been months since i'm away frm home... ;)

n i'm gonna use my time here well...time is precious...time is short...b4 my industrial training... (it's called that now, not PRACTICAL training anymore.. ) heh...~

yep...n rite now i feel like, i'm not ready to step into the big world where everyone is mean to each other (bzns world, hello?)...backstabbing's evrywhere, n the 'lembik' ones will get stepped on....
well, at least that's what I think...

no...the world can't b that bad.. ;) sumtimes i'm hving too much of a hard time thinking bad abt other ppl...well, u c, it's frm my experience..my past experiences with sum...difficult..ppl?

but, i still hv sum good gurl frenz tho'.... ;)

nahh, i don h8 evrybody..i'll juz quickly retaliate when ppl r not being nice to me... n i'm easily provocated....so watch out,...heheh~

hmm, n..i gotta learn more abt the world's current issue..ok, harga minyak dah trn...yoga dh dihrmkan oleh mufti2 perak..rafidah vs shahrizat? does that count? heheh... ;)

well, i must say, that what i learned during my last semester's courses surely HAD helped me getting to know the, the heavy stuff' in this world - u know, politics, govt intervention, economics...n they're not boring! yay...i've finally grown up! ;)
